Birmingham, UK – A business delegation from the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry (KCI) visited Birmingham from September 10–12, 2025, as part of its efforts to strengthen global partnerships within the framework of KCI’s internationalization goals. Led by KCI President of the Assembly Hasan Tahsin Tuğrul, the delegation visited the UK Metals Expo and met with regional business leaders to explore new avenues for cooperation.
Exploring Industry Innovation at the UK Metals Expo
The KCI delegation had the opportunity to engage directly with leading suppliers and service providers from across the world at the UK Metals Expo. The fair showcased the latest trends in production and processing technologies, with a strong focus on metals, steel, aluminum, and other industrial materials. Delegates also examined cutting-edge developments in automation, materials engineering and high-tech applications that are shaping the future of the sector.
Meeting with the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce
Beyond the exhibition, the delegation was hosted by the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce. In discussions led by Global Chamber President Janie Frampton OBE DL, participants explored Birmingham’s economic landscape, investment opportunities and potential for cross-border collaboration.
Frampton highlighted the striking similarities between Birmingham’s industrial ecosystem and Kocaeli, particularly in the automotive, metals, and machinery sectors. She emphasized that this shared industrial strength could serve as a foundation for deeper cooperation between the two regions.
Building Bridges for Future Partnerships
During the visit, the Kocaeli delegation presented the region’s robust industrial infrastructure, investment potential, and openness to international cooperation. Assembly President Hasan Tahsin Tuğrul underlined the importance of such missions stressing that global engagement is key to ensuring Kocaeli’s business community plays a more prominent role in international markets.
“This visit is another step in building long-term partnerships that will expand our reach and strengthen our competitiveness on a global scale,” Tuğrul said.
