THE GHANA AMBASSADOR IN ANKARA VISITED THE KCI

Salma Frances Mancell-Egala; The Ghana Ambassador in Ankara and John Hawkins Asiedu; The Minister Counselor visited The Kocaeli Chamber of Industry on October 4, 2018. The delegation were welcomed by The KCI Executive Board Member Atalay Kaya and they were given a presentation about the Kocaeli industry.

A Slovakian Delegation Visited The KCI

A Slovakian businessmen delegation who are led by Slovakia’s Commercial Attache in Istanbul; Mr. Marian Veres visited The Kocaeli Chamber Of Industry on March 14, 2018. The delegation were given a presentation about the Kocaeli industry by The Deputy Secretary General M. Egemen Mert. The delegation also visited The KOSBAS (Kocaeli Free Trade Zone) within the context of their programme.

A South African Research Delegation Visited The KCI

The Republic of South Africa’s B&M Analysts company authorities who are led by Lillian Keetse and John White visited Kocaeli on February 19, 2018. The delegation who came to Turkey for observing the good practices made the first visit to the TOSB. An introduction was presented to the authorities at the TOSB as well as the premises was toured. The delegation made the second visit to the TUBITAK and the final visit to the KCI. The delegation were given a presentation about Kocaeli and the Kocaeli industry by The Secretary General Memet B. Turabi and The Deputy Secretary General M. Egemen Mert. Afterwards, the delegation departed for Istanbul for completing their study tour.

SWEDEN’S CONSUL GENERAL VISITED THE KCI

Consul General of Sweden in Istanbul; Therese Hydén visited the KCI on February 6, 2018. The Consulate General’s Commercial Officer Sevin Yalcin and Business Sweden’s Consultant Doruk Gunay accompanied to the Consul General. The delegation who were welcomed by the Chairman of The Board; Ayhan Zeytinoglu were given information about the industry of Kocaeli.  The Consul General also visited The Governor of Kocaeli; Huseyin Aksoy and The Mayor of The Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality; Ibrahim Karaosmanoglu within the context of her Kocaeli programme. During the visits, Therese Hydén was informed about Kocaeli and the projects as well as the potential cooperations were discussed between.

KCI Chairman Attended Eu-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee in Brussels

The 36th Meeting of the EU-Turkey Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) was held in Brussels on 18 and 19 July 2017 with the participation of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Ömer Çelik, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and IKV and KCI Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu. KCI Chairman also came together with the President of the European Commission Jean Claude-Juncker.

During the meeting bringing together representatives of Turkish and EU Officials as well as civil society, the implementation of the EU-Turkey Statement, visa liberalisation dialogue, transport quotas, the state of the economy in Turkey and the EU, social issues and employment in Turkey, women rights in Turkey, developments in the modernisation of the Customs Union, the future of the EU and Turkey-EU relations in general were discussed.

In the session entitled “The State of the Economy in Turkey and EU-Turkey Economic Developments”, KCI Chairman Ayhan Zeytinoğlu made a presentation regarding the obstacles on the functioning of the current Customs Union between Turkey and the EU. On the one hand, KCI Chairman underlined that Turkey and the EU are already linked together through trade. On the other hand, KCI Chairman stated that EU moves to bilateral trade from multilateral trade agreements. In addition,Turkey faces significant trade disadvantages both in the EU and third countries due to the rules of the Customs Union. Deeping the Customs Union, KCI Chairman reconfirmed that the Customs Union should cover additional sectors such as agriculture, service and public procurement. Consequently, he stated that the negotiations regarding the modernisation of the Custions Union will not only offer a fair and productive process for both parties, but also create a momentum in relations. To KCI Chairman, there should be a new mechanism improving Turkey-EU relations.
